In springtime, when
the forest is waking up, as I walk along the river that winds its way through
my town, the little wispy white flowers fall from the cottonwood trees and I
collect from already fallen branches (a gift from the recent storm) and gather the
not yet sprouted buds, covering my fingers in sticky red resin. One of mother
nature's healing gifts, cottonwood resin contains a special medicine that has
the power to soothe sore muscle, ease the pain in arthritic joints, and help
heal damaged skin.
